If you can make an informed decision, what do you still need to think about?

Now don’t get me wrong, I do get it. Even though, I can make a quick decision and live with the consequences, I do not easily make uninformed decisions.  I also get it that not everybody feels comfortable with making decisions on the spot (a forty year relationship with a hubby that takes his time to decide, has taught me a few lessons!)

Let me tell you story to illustrate the point. I have a good friend which I will call John. I introduced him to my network marketing opportunity and he told me that he needed to think about it. As always, I respected his wish. Two days later, I contacted him again. He still had not made up his mind. A week later I called him again. He then asked me to explain the opportunity one more time.  I did so and John’s reply to give him some time to think about it (again), surprised me a little. This time I left him for two weeks before I phoned again to check whether he had made up his mind. John decided that he wasn’t interested because “nobody was interested in the opportunity”. Can you imagine my astonishment!

In trying to test the water, you either have to dive in yourself or trust someone who is swimming already. When you are standing next to the pool and ask people to jump in, most would not take the leap but if you are in the pool and invite them to join you, more people would likely agree to get in since you have first-hand experience of what the water feels like.

Fortunately this story had a good ending. John soon realised that his earlier perception of nobody being interested wasn’t based on fact. He trusted my opinion as someone who speaks from experience and joined me. After being empowered with the right knowledge and many hours of training he has come to realise that more people were interested in the opportunity than he initially thought. John is no longer standing next to the pool, wondering what the water is like!

I do respect the wish to take some time to digest information that is unfamiliar. What concerns me is when people need to make a change but use any possible excuse to postpone a decision. Read my article about The Most Misunderstood Market to nudge you in the right direction.

Don’t postpone the decision – the risk in network marketing is extremely low compared to the rewards for those who are willing to put in the necessary effort.
