Scam Alert! How to distinguish between a scam and a viable opportunity

We are living in a country and in a time where unemployment has reached an all time high. Rising living cost and economists warning about a luring depression add to the need to look for income opportunities.

And there is no shortage of all sorts of opportunities. The internet has opened up the world for us. Creating websites and videos with promises of easy earning is as easy as falling out of a tree. Throwing jargon around that sounds impressive and letting people feel they are less than because they are not in the know creates even more FOMO (fear of missing out). And it is easy to lure people into scams.

Just because there are so many scams around, doesn’t mean everything is a scam. Or that your need for an extra (or only) income has disappeared. Or that there is a shortage of good opportunities. There is a solution. You can learn to discern between a good opportunity and something that could be less good or outright a scam.

My expertise lies in the field of direct marketing, which includes network marketing or multi-level marketing. This is unfortunately an industry that is prone to attract scams.

I would be irresponsible not to warn you to check your own expectancy, too. Remember, opportunities come in blue overalls. Do not expect to make money without doing some work. And most importantly, some sort of a learning curve. Even if you think that you know what to do, every new opportunity (and job) has different ways of doing things. Be humble and be a student. Be open to change if your approach doesn’t work.

Network marketing bears an unnecessary burden because of people that don’t want to get involved in scams yet expect to earn money without work. And because of people that are not prepared to learn and do the necessary work to create the income they dream of. To build a successful network marketing business will take time and effort, just like any other business but without the cost and risk of “normal” businesses. Low cost and risk don’t take any value away of a network marketing business. If you can build up your network marketing business, you can sell it in a legal transaction just like any other business.

I am confronted on a daily basis with people that believe network marketing is a scam. The biggest reason is a lack of knowledge. I have compiled a checklist to help you to discern between an opportunity that can bring some extra income and something that can leave you with a red face. Forget about earning CEO type of money within a few months. If you can’t do that in any other job, why would it be possible in any other opportunity? And just because it is almost impossible in a short period of time, it would be unwise to say no to less money and work your way up to the income you’re dreaming of. At least here you don’t have competition to outperform for the top position. You can determine what your top position will be!

You are welcome to download the checklist and make sure you don’t get scammed!
